Almond Half-Moons |
1 cup butter or margarine -- softened 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 egg 1/4 teaspoon almond extract 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 cup ground almonds, hazelnuts, or pecans Sifted powdered sugar -- as needed |
In a large mixing bowl beat the butter or margarine with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add the sugar; beat until combined. Beat in the egg and almond extract. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in any remaining flour and the ground nuts with a wooden spoon. Do not chill dough. |
